Defensive Carbine

This course is intended to introduce a broad range of defensive carbine concepts. We will focus on carbine manipulations, fundamentals review, peripheral awareness, building and maintaining a stable shooting platform, ready positions and presentation, recoil management, communication, movement, and use of cover. Additional topics include positional shooting, transitions, malfunction mitigation, keeping the gun running, multiple target management, and problem-solving with a rifle in a defensive context. As time allows, we will layer these skills under increasing cognitive and physical demand.

Important Info

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before the class start time. If you are late, we reserve the right to turn you away as a no-show.
Bring a camp chair or stool.
You will need up to 300 rounds of FMJ ammunition.
Keep your firearms secured in your vehicle until you receive instructions from a Range Safety Officer.
Wear pants with a belt, sturdy athletic shoes or boots, and clothing suitable for outdoor training. A hat with a bill is strongly recommended. You will get dirty.
Bring plenty of water and snacks. You will be outdoors all day.
Bring your carbine, sling, and magazine carriers. Run your everyday setup or your duty or battle belt if you prefer. Minimum: carbine, sling, and 3 magazines.
If the weather is inclement, we will train. If the weather is dangerous, training will be delayed.
The end time is flexible.
