Students can take a single course or follow a progressive training path—similar to a martial art—where strong fundamentals, sound decisions, and demonstrated competence support increasingly complex skills. Our goal is not to rush anyone forward, but to create a no-ego environment where every student can build practical capability with confidence and a clear understanding of when and why each skill matters.

WLTAC builds every course on strong fundamentals, clear context, and a no-ego learning environment.

Some students come to us for one course. They may want to become more comfortable with a firearm, improve a particular skill, meet a training requirement, or solve a specific problem. Our goal is to make that course valuable on its own.

Others want to continue. For them, WLTAC offers a structured progression similar to a martial art—allowing students to develop their skills over time and move into increasingly complex training when they are ready.

Context is central to everything we teach. Many firearms courses focus on what to do and how to do it. We also teach when a skill is appropriate and why it matters.

Whether someone trains with us once or continues for years, the objective is the same: provide useful instruction in an environment built for learning.

The instructors have Military and shooting applicable civilian backgrounds. They teach you a lot of useful real world tactics, and provide scenarios that really make you think beyond just point and shoot. They’ve created an extremely safe yet fun and practical environment. I’ve only been to a few courses but my shooting has vastly improved. You never feel intimidated to ask them questions about firearms and maneuvers. They make sure you have the material and fundamentals down and once you master those, you to move on to more advanced classes. The advanced classes are a lot of fun. Even if you don’t get your chip to move on, the courses they created makes you want to come back and try again and again tell you qualify. They also give you advice and dry fire drills to practice at home to continue your learning beyond the classroom. Some of the most knowledgeable and professional dudes I’ve come across. Honorable yet important mention, sometimes the course comes with free grilled hotdogs.

I am not only a better shooter than when I started, but also a better thinker. The instructors want you to know WHY you do things, not just how to do them.

The introductory “fundamentals” classes were a treasure trove of information and skills for someone who admittedly thought he was advanced.

The instructors are experienced, professional, safety focused, and fun to be around. They give great coaching and take time to work with you one on one when needed.

To top it all off, the classes are quite reasonably priced and I think you get an excellent bang for your buck.

It was a long drive for me but well worth it and looking forward to future opportunities to train with these guys. Lots of reps that highlighted areas I need to work on. Great people and atmosphere. Joel and his team were wonderful.  They were highly competent and knowledgeable and provided me the extra attention I needed that day as a newbie! Very fair pricing, encourages all kinds of shooters to give them a chance; I think ive convinced more people to take their fundamentals courses because of that alone.  Great mix of professionalism and approach ability.
Also as you advance in complexity with WLTAC, the Instructor to student ratio lets me feel extremely safe, knowing that myself and every other student has at least one set of eyes on them at any one time.
Between Joel and Michael there is a great deal of knowledge on the training and tactics that worked historically and why, what has carried over all of the intervening years, and what has driven changes to modern tactics.

I started with the Pistol Fundamentals course about two years ago. I’ve also taken the WLT Basic Shotgun, Defensive Pistol , Basic Lifesaving I and some survival courses. My  experiences with WLT have been entirely positive. I took the Pistol Fundamentals course several times before I passed it and I took it several more times after passing. The course is priced at just $45 specifically to encourage students to take it again and again to  perfect  their basic fundamentals. The instructors won’t flatter you with phony praise. You won’t be allowed to progress into higher level courses until you demonstrate proficiency and safety with the skills taught at each level.  At the same time, if you do receive criticism it will be friendly and constructive, not  intimidating or humiliating. The core teaching method is they explain a skill, then demonstrate it, and finally you do the skill with an instructor or Range Safety Officer (RSO)  looking over your shoulder and giving advice. The classroom portion of the Pistol Fundamentals course delivers a wealth of information covering an array of topics. Bring a notebook and pen. There is not room here for much detail but in my experience the instructors and RSOs have gone way out of their way to help me with specific issues I've had. They all have demonstrated a sincere desire for students to succeed and develop stronger skills.
I plan to take more WLT courses in the future.
